Today, I was proud to volunteer alongside Orlando Police Chief John Mina, Orlando Fire Chief Roderick Williams and 20 members of our City family at IDignity’s monthly service event. IDignity provides assistance and aid to those in need of Florida ID cards and licenses, birth certificates and Social Security cards.
These tools, which many of us take for granted, are necessary for residents to have access to housing, apply for a job or seek essential services.
One of the most significant impediments for someone seeking to get ahead in life is lack of identification. It can be frustrating and intimidating for a person to apply for these necessary forms of ID.
IDignity simplifies this process by providing legal representation, covering expenses and grouping vital services like the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, Orange County Health Department and Social Security Administration under one roof.
This month, IDignity celebrates its seventh anniversary and since its inception has served more than 14,000 unduplicated clients in Orlando and has replicated its model in surrounding communities.
IDignity is an integral part of our effort to ensure the City of Orlando is livable for everyone. That includes extending help and opportunity to our homeless population and removing barriers for citizens seeking to get back on their feet.
